Christian Schachtner is a distinguished academic and professional leader whose career reflects an exceptional integration of public management, business informatics, and digital transformation with a strong focus on modernizing governance and public sector organizations, currently serving as Professor of Business Informatics with a focus on digitalization of the public sector at RheinMain University of Applied Sciences where he contributes significantly to advancing digital transformation strategies and public sector innovation while previously serving as Chief Digital Officer at the City of Kempten where he guided the municipality through digital restructuring initiatives aimed at building sustainable governance infrastructures, he has also held the role of Professor of Public Management at IU International University of Applied Sciences where he enriched the field of public administration with practical and research-oriented insights, before that leading the Strategy Department of the City of Bamberg where his work revolved around organizational management, administrative innovation, and policy alignment, prior to this he was the Head of EGovernment and Central Division in the Local Government of Fürth Countryside in Zirndorf where he drove eGovernment initiatives and strengthened internal service delivery, complementing this trajectory he began his career at the University of Applied Sciences Ingolstadt as Head of Practical Service in the student department where he honed his expertise in academic administration and service excellence, his academic journey underpins this practical career path with a Diploma in Law from the University of Applied Sciences of the Public Sector, a Master of Arts in European Administration Management from Hochschule für Wirtschaft und Recht Berlin, doctoral research at Katholische Universität Eichstätt-Ingolstadt Business School, and a Postgraduate Certificate in Adult Education and Extracurricular Youth Work from the same institution, reflecting a lifelong dedication to education, policy.
