Mrs. Greta Ahrens is a dedicated physician currently advancing her specialization in trauma surgery, orthopedics, and sports orthopedics at Asklepios Klinik St. Georg in Hamburg, where she contributes to both clinical excellence and surgical innovation. With a strong foundation in human medicine from the Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel, she has developed a deep academic and practical interest in the complex mechanisms of musculoskeletal injuries and surgical trauma management. Dr. Ahrens’ early engagement in orthopedic education, including her leadership as the site director of AGA Students Kiel and her active role in restructuring teaching modules in orthopedics and trauma surgery at the University Hospital Schleswig-Holstein, demonstrates her passion for advancing medical training and clinical teaching. Her research contributions include pioneering work on the effect of IL-17 and combined mechanical injury on meniscal tissue integrity in vitro, as well as clinical case studies addressing critical trauma interventions such as emergency thoracotomy during resuscitation, thoracic stab wounds, and combined thoraco-laparotomy following high-impact falls. These publications reflect her commitment to improving emergency trauma outcomes and her ongoing pursuit of translational insight from anatomical research to clinical application. As a member of the AGA Residents Steering Group and the “Patellofemoral” committee of the DKG, she plays an active role in shaping orthopedic and trauma surgical discourse.
