She earned her Ph.D. in Chemistry from Madurai Kamaraj University, Tamilnadu, specializing in Electrochemistry with a focus on Corrosion, Biomaterial Corrosion, Nanomaterial, and Surface Modification Techniques. Her doctoral degree was awarded in October 2016. Prior to her Ph.D., Dr. Nagalakshmi completed an M.Phil. in Chemistry specializing in Polymers from ANJA College, Sivakasi, in 2006. She also holds an M.Sc. in Chemistry from SRNM College, Sattur, obtained between 1997 and 1999, and a B.Sc. in Chemistry from S.F.R. College, Sivakasi, completed between 1994 and 1997. Dr. R. Nagalakshmi is a highly experienced educator with a career spanning over 20 years in teaching Chemistry. She started her journey as a Lecturer at VVV Women’s College, Virudhunagar, Tamilnadu, from January 2003 to February 2004. Following this, she served as a Lecturer at Devanga Arts College, Aruppukottai, Tamilnadu, from February 2004 to August 2006, and then at Thirumalai Engineering College, Kancheepuram, Tamilnadu, from August 2007 to July 2008. Dr. Nagalakshmi then joined Aarupadai Veedu Institute of Technology, Paiyanoor, Chennai, where she held the position of Lecturer from July 2008 to October 2011, and later as an Assistant Professor from October 2011 to November 2022. Currently, she serves as an Associate Professor at Aarupadai Veedu Institute of Technology, where she has been contributing to the institution’s academic excellence since November 2023. Throughout her career, Dr. Nagalakshmi has demonstrated a strong dedication to teaching and has played a vital role in shaping the academic landscape in her field.

Dr. R. Nagalakshmi has been actively involved in organizing various academic events and programs throughout her career. Notably, she served as a Technical Committee member for the two-day “National Conference on Green Technologies – 2014 Environment Engineering & Ethics (NCGT EEE-2014)” held on 27th and 28th March 2014 at the Department of Chemistry, Aarupadai Veedu Institute of Technology, Paiyanoor, Chennai. She also coordinated a two-day Faculty Development Programme on “Frontier in Chemical Research” on 30th and 31st October 2014. Additionally, Dr. Nagalakshmi organized a one-day workshop on “Nanomaterial Research for Advanced Improved Health Care” on 30th January 2019 and coordinated National Science Day events in 2019, 2021, and 2022, showcasing her commitment to promoting scientific awareness and education. Furthermore, she coordinated a Three-Day Faculty Development Programme on Hands-on-Training for Nanotechnology Research from 19th to 21st October 2022, demonstrating her leadership and organizational skills in facilitating academic initiatives at Aarupadai Veedu Institute of Technology, Paiyanoor, Chennai.

Notably, she received the Women Researcher Award at the International Scientist Awards on Engineering, Science, and Medicine held on 28th and 29th August 2021 in Trivandrum, India, organized by VDGOOD Professional Association. In addition, she was honored with the Best Paper Presentation Award at the International Conference on SERIA-2013, held on 7th-9th August 2013 at Rajalakshmi Engineering College, Chennai, for her research on the electrochemical study of corrosion inhibition of metals and alloys in artificial urine in the presence of urea. Furthermore, Dr. Nagalakshmi received an Appreciation Award at the International Conference on Disaster Management and Civil Engineering – 2016, held on 22nd and 23rd April 2016 at AVIT, Chennai, for her significant contributions to the field.
