Dr. Frahad Samimi Namin is an accomplished mining engineering scholar and Assistant Professor whose academic and professional journey reflects deep expertise in underground mining method selection, mine planning, and advanced decision-making systems; he completed his foundational studies in mining engineering before pursuing advanced postgraduate research that culminated in a doctoral thesis titled “Development of a Decision Theory Based Model for Underground Mining Method Selection,” a work that established his reputation in integrating multicriteria decision-making, fuzzy logic, and mine design principles; he expanded his research exposure through a sabbatical at Istanbul University, where he further refined his scientific approach to mining systems analysis; over the course of his academic career at the University of Zanjan, he taught a wide range of specialized courses including Underground Mining Methods, Advanced Underground Excavation Methods, Principles of Mine Design, Mine Surveying, Mine Ventilation, Tunneling, Shaft Sinking, and Mine Management, contributing significantly to professional training in the mining sector; his scientific interests span mine planning and design, mining method and equipment selection, environmental impact assessment, and hybrid fuzzy-based decision support tools; he has authored and co-authored impactful publications such as “FMMSIC: A Hybrid Fuzzy Based Decision Support System for MMS (In Order to Estimate Interrelationships Between Criteria)” and “Practical Applications from Decision-Making Techniques for Selection of Suitable Mining Method in Iran,” along with several influential ISI journal papers addressing fuzzy decision-making models, environmental impacts of open-pit mining, and optimization strategies in mining operations; his research presented at numerous international conferences highlights innovative applications of fuzzy logic, numerical modeling, slope stability analysis, and operational optimization, positioning him as a recognized contributor to modern mining engineering methodologies and intelligent decision frameworks.
