Abdullah Al Mozahid is a passionate sociologist with a strong interest in food anthropology, agroecology, and environmental studies. His academic journey has focused on exploring the sociocultural construction of rice quality, the debate between food security and food sovereignty, and the changing agroecology in neoliberal food regimes. Currently, he is serving as a Lecturer in the Department of Sociology and Sustainable Development at Premier University, Chittagong. With expertise in both qualitative and quantitative research methodologies, he specializes in ethnographic studies. His future research aims to investigate the impact of agroecological transformations on rural peasantry in monga-prone areas of Northern Bangladesh. π±π

Abdullah Al Mozahid completed his Master of Arts (MA) in Sociology from South Asian University, New Delhi, India, in 2023. Prior to this, he obtained a Bachelor of Social Science (BSS) with Honors in Sociology from Hajee Mohammad Danesh Science and Technology University, Bangladesh, in 2019. His early academic foundation was built at Dinajpur Board, where he completed his Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) in 2014 and Secondary School Certificate (SSC) in 2012. His educational background has provided him with a strong foundation in sociological theories, research methodologies, and fieldwork experience, shaping his approach to critical issues in food and agrarian studies. ππ

With a diverse professional background, Abdullah Al Mozahid has been involved in teaching, research, and fieldwork. Since October 2023, he has been working as a Lecturer in the Department of Sociology and Sustainable Development at Premier University, Chittagong. Previously, he served as a Data Analyst at the Bangladesh Research Institute for Development (BRIDS) in 2022, contributing to research on promoting hygienic restaurants and street food sustainability. In 2021, he worked as a Field Researcher at Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB), mapping vulnerable stakeholders in Bangladesh. Additionally, he has contributed as a Research Assistant for multiple projects, including studies on microfinance and community resilience at the University of Southampton. His leadership experience includes serving as Project Manager for the LG Ambassador Program (2018-2019), where he actively worked on tree plantation and environmental sustainability initiatives. ππ

Abdullah Al Mozahidβs research interests lie at the intersection of food anthropology, agrarian studies, food security, and agroecology. His work focuses on understanding how rural communities perceive the quality of food, particularly rice, and how these perceptions shape agrarian economies. His research also examines the socio-economic dimensions of food sovereignty and the environmental transformations brought by neoliberal food policies. His ongoing work seeks to analyze how agroecological shifts impact peasant livelihoods in Northern Bangladesh, especially in regions prone to monga (seasonal famine). Using ethnographic methods, he explores the lived experiences of rural farmers, highlighting the socio-cultural narratives that shape their agricultural practices and food consumption habits. πΎπ

Throughout his academic journey, Abdullah Al Mozahid has been recognized for his academic excellence and research contributions. He was awarded the prestigious SAARC India Silver Jubilee Scholarship (SJS) from 2021 to 2023 for his Master’s studies at South Asian University, New Delhi. Additionally, he received the EXIM Scholars Award from 2015 to 2022 under the EXIM Bank Scholarship Program, which supported his undergraduate studies in Sociology.
